How to Read Articles from Web to Kindle Device

Sitting in front of these illuminated color displays for long hours takes a toll on our eyes. In digital era, how can we give the required rest to our eyes? E-ink displays are the solution to this problem because they look and behave just like paper and don’t cause as much strain compare to others.

E-Links are great for reading books but very painful experience while doing web browsing on kindle.

1. How to save any Webpage with ‘Send to Kindle’

The Send To Kindle extension is used to send any kind of web page, blog or article directly to user’s Kindle device. It is available for both Chrome and Firefox.

Once the extension is installed, you’ll be asked to log in to your Amazon account and select the device you want to send articles to. Multiple devices also can be select. Once it’s done then select Save.

Now when you come across a webpage or a long-form article you want to send to Kindle, from your Chrome menu bar select the Send To Kindle extension. From the popup, user can select and directly send the simplified version or just the highlighted portion of the article to his/her device. Wait for a few seconds and the selected stuff will show in your Kindle’s Docs section.

 

2. How to Send A Book or Articles

We come across a lot of articles which we would like to read in the day or whenever we are free. If we decide to send each article individually, then finding and managing the right content later can be a difficult task. Here Readlist’s is for our convenience.

Readlist’s is a project by Readability through which we can add number of links we want. It will generate a simplified version of that page (without images) and package it in an EPUB or MOBI file which we can download/send to our device directly using  Kindle’s unique email address.

Go to Readlists.com and sign in with your Readability account if you want to save your Readlists for future use. You don’t need to create an account to save a Readlist.

Start copy and paste the URL of the articles you want to save. Depending on the volume of articles you have to save, this might several minutes .Once it’s done, add a title for the readlist and select Send To Kindle option.

When the popup opens, go to your Kindle settings page and add kindle@readability.com to your approved list.

Now, enter the unique email address for your Kindle ebook reader and select Send To Kindle. After a few seconds, the book with articles will show up on your device.

3. How to  Send Files Via Email

You can use any email service to send files and books to your Kindle — attach the file to an email and send it to your Kindle email address. If the attachment is compatible with your device, it will be dispatched instantly otherwise it will show error. Here is a list of compatible file formats:

  • Microsoft Word (.DOC, .DOCX)
  • HTML (.HTML, .HTM)
  • RTF (.RTF)
  • JPEG (.JPEG, .JPG)
  • Kindle Format (.MOBI, .AZW)
  • GIF (.GIF)
  • PNG (.PNG)
  • BMP (.BMP)
  • PDF (.PDF)

You can also send PDFs ,PNG images, HTML pages, Word documents etc. other than ebooks, to your Kindle device.
